The Goonies is a coming of age story about a group of preteen boys becoming 13-ish and a few teenagers.   The kids face scary skeletons and ancient pirate imagery all while being chased by ugly Italians in order to obtain treasure and adult hood.   This movie appeals to (a mostly very young) audience via the thrill of adventure and the spooky pirate booby traps.  Not to say that an adult wouldn't like it.  I didn't, but you might.  I guess it was kinda fun, just not my thing.  Cliche ending; the kids find the treasure, and get to keep the house; a few people find love.   5/10 stars.
