Goonies Film Critique

After seeing this movie for a second time, my outlook changed on it completely  When I first viewed it, I actually despised the film and didn't find anything entertaining about it, which was probably due to the fact that I was only six and found most of the the humor rather unhumorous and thought some scenes were pretty scary. But seeing it again at the age of fifteen was much more enjoyable for me. Not only was the humor funny, but I understood a lot of the hidden meanings that the director incorporated into the film that I had not seen when I was younger. The story line a was a bit more relatable for me as well.

The story line of the Goonies is that of which is highly entertaining and also relatable to kids and adults. The director Steven Spielberg created an atmosphere of adventure, danger, mystery, witty humor, and true moral values such as friendship, family comes first, and finding your identity (weather it's with a group, or just your own personal identity). The story line was told from the perspective of children, and this added a sense of innocence as well as a bit more of a fun and was more connectable to audiences, as appose to using adults for the main characters.

Overall, the movie is one I would highly recommend and would gladly watch again.

  1. I can relate to how when you first saw the film you, didn't like it very much. I have seen movies in the past where I hated it the first time and when I view it again it became one of my favorite movies. I liked this particular movie the first time I saw it (in this class) but I understand perfectly what you mean.
