As You Wish

Recently in film studies, we had the pleasure of watching The Princess Bride. This is a movie that I've grown up with, and it was and still remains one of my child hood favorites. I hadn't seen the movie for a few years before this, and seeing it again was a little different than when I've usually watched it. I found myself saying the characters lines in my head (yes, I've seen it that many times) and also remember certain parts of the movie that I had forgotten about.

The story line is that of which makes the perfect mix for an adventure. Usually adventure films are a little on the cheesy side, and at times this movie definitely is, but at the same time the traits of the movie balance each other out, to make the movie memorable and good enough to watch over and over again. The book and the move are a quite a bit different (if anyone you have read the book, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about) but I noticed the author had a part in writing the screenplay for the movie, and that made me wonder. Did he have his way with the characters that would be put into the movie? Or with the script? Or did he purposefully want the movie to be different from the book...hmmm
