Hairspray

The musical Hairspray was remade in 2007 by Adam Shankman. The film is about to be different and to be yourself no matter what the other say about you. And compaign for that what you think and want.   The main character is the overweighted Tracy Turnblad played by Nikki Blonsky, who wants to be in the popular Corny Collins show on TV.  In the show she wants to abolish the segregation between black and white people on TV. She has to enforce her goal in the mean show business with the help of the popular actor of the show Link Larkin and her friends from school she can reach her goal.
John Travolta plays Tracy's mom. He does a good job as a women. Often the actors overact a situation though, which makes it a little bit annoying.
The film is kind of like the rest of the Hollywood production with a happy ending in which Tracy beats the mean co-actress and everyone is happy. The producer of the film used light colors, which they use in films to make it more nice.
But I really like the music and the theme the film is actually about.

Hairspray

This is a music movie again, but this is not just a music movie, they used the songs and dance to fight for africa american rights, everyone can dance on the show, its dosent matter what's your skin's color.Let everyone know that boss ugly heart, they think if you want to dance, you have tall, thin and good looking, and you can go on the dance show. This movie tell us if you have talent and hard work whatever who you are, you still can be succeed. After that the girls all find their love. I think these teenagers really brave, they were not afraid of police, follow their dreams.

Jazz singer

I can not believe we can watch such a old movie, even its older than my grandparents, but I think this movie its pretty real, show us a jazz singer. He had hard time when he is a boy, he loves singing so much, but his father a church people think, jazz singer is bad, they can not stand a singer, even his father will beat him, he can not understand. This movie let me know, 1930's people old mind, they can not accept new stuff, and old way to teach kids, just beat kids. Let me know how was people's life looks like in 1930, when he kissing his mother and when he singing let feel thats real his voice, anywhere this is real  classic movie in the history.

Hairspray

During this film, I enjoyed all the bright colors (probably from the over saturation) and of coarse all the crazy hair styles. I thought the storyline was pretty good, and all the different characters personalities were really entertaining. I am not usually a fan of musicals though because they can be a bit much to handle at times. Compared to the last musical film we watched, I liked this one better because the storyline made more sense and not the ENTIRE thing was singing. I learned that this film was meant to represent the 60’s, around when race was still a issue. I thought the cinematography was good because the quality of the film was good and the shot selection was varied. My favorite actor in this film was John Travolta because it was hilarious watching him dance and obsess over foods. His characters personality was funny too:) If I was the director I would have taken out some of the songs, but then again I don’t think that would be a good thing to do for a musical.

The jazz singer

The movie the jazz singer was a very bland movie in my opinion i don't really have much to say about it, in the movie i often caught myself bored and confused throughout the movie. The jazz singer had a great story behind its tedious cut aways to subtitles, the story about a young boy fofiling his dreams to sing even if he has to run from his family. I think the director could have could have detailed then other characters in the story i felt there was only one actor (the main actor) the rest were just background actors i felt anchous to see who and what they are.

The movie Hair spray was a very pleasant warm movie to watch it kept me entertained the whole movie. The plot of the story was really good in my opinion, it had a lot of detail and good subtext and great scene shots. The sets were really detailed and looked very colorful witched looked great they really made the movie look like it was in the 60s. I think the only flaw that i saw in the movie was the fact that the story had a flaw some holes in it and made some parts confusing but other than that i thought the movie was fun and entertaining to watch i though the characters did a great job playing the roles.

Hairspray takes the spot at one of my favorite musicals. It had great music throughout the movie and the story was concise which included suspense, creativity, and fun. The character choice of the movie was phenomenal. Nicky Blonsky was an unknown actor for me and she played Tracy Turnlab flawlessly along with John Travolta playing an obese mother in contrast to his other roles in other movies. This movie was based on the time where integration really grew in the United States and the way they exemplified that with dance and music really went well in the overall production of this film.

Hairspray was a horrible movie, I don't like musicals anyways because the music is not that great and the people that thing it suck at singing. I would have to say that west side story was better then this movie and west side story was not a great movie ether. I didn't know that hairspray was that big of a think back in the 1963 and how they still had a problem with raises. That the color in this movie was really bright it was hard for me to look at it so many bright colors.  The acting was okay they did a good job by showing how the 60's were it wasn't the best acting I have seen. The director should have made a woman play the mother then Travolta because it was weird see him play a woman.

Air $pray

      Hairspray was a movie that I've seen before and now I'm not that big of a fan. When I was younger I was very entertained by it but now the music is really boring and annoying to me. Overall it's not that bad of a movie or a bad movie at all, but it does get boring after watching it too many times. It's a movie based in the 60's and all of the colors in the shots are very saturated so they look bright as hell. I would recommend people to watch this once or twice but not too many times. 8/10

Hairspray is one of those movies that you either love it, or you dislike it. For a musical, there are great things about this movie. John Travolta in this movie is absolutely stunning as an overweight mother of an aspiring dancer. This movie follows this dancer, along with many african american dancers in the '60s. During this time, there was no integration between whites and blacks. Especially on television. The movie follows these groups of teenagers through the tough moral times. The decision of what it right and what is wrong, and what to do about the decisions, shows through the characters choices. Wether they fight, or stand by. This movie is great in showing how much of a difference one person can make when they set their mind to something. This movie is one of those movies, that has the ability to impact your life if you let it.

This movie is not only fun to watch but also pretty inspirational to learn about integration in such an important time period in history. I think the filming was done very skillfully from the transitions of setting and outfit changes. I thought it was very cleaver when they switched from the picture of tracy singing to her actually singing. I also thought they switched from song to song in a smooth way. If i were the director I would have maybe picked a younger actor to play Tracy's dad because he seemed a little to old to have a daughter in high school, in my opinion. I am glad they picked actors who had good singing voices and were able to act as well. I think they lighting and filters really captured the time period and it was just all in all a great movie. I think that this movie is a great teaching/learning tool for younger audiences because it showcases some very serious topics in a fun an up lifting way.

Hair spray

I am not someone that personally likes the musical genre of film but in the film Hair Spray it is cool to see how film makers put in a story line which is strongly influenced by its time which revolved around civil rights mainly and was a time of the biggest changes that happened in America; so it was cool to see how the musical concept fell into a huge roll in American history by following a story line in song and dance. I feel like viewers for this will remain interested in the film with the song in dance put into it and it was also funny to see actor John Travolta play a roll as a mom in the film which kept a good sense of comedy in the film.

Jazz Singer

The Jazz singer is one of the first of its kind. At the time of production all movies did not dare to integrate sound into the cinematic experience, but The Jazz Singer dared to dream bigger. With the inclusion of singing and dialogue this movie jumped years ahead of time. The movie is about a kid who aspirations are shut down by his father by an early age and he struggles to find his calling until he runs away one night and comes up to be a star singer. The way the camera moved was quite frankly surprising, techniques that are seen today were used in this film and that to me is quite impressive.

West Side Story

West Side Story is an musical by Leonardo Bernstein, produced into a film by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins in 1961.

The film is about the hate of two gangs: The Sharks from America and the Jets, immigrants from Puerto Rico. 

Maria, the sister from Bernando and the girlfriend from Chino falls in love with Tony, the leader from the Sharks. Tony falls in love with her as well. 

At the final fight between these both gangs, where people die. 

At the end Tony is shoot by Chino. But there is hope that the both gangs find peace between each other because they carry Tony's body together away. 

The film is pretty good. It shows how it is still today. That people fight against each other without reason and then they lose the people, who are the most important thing for them. But that there can be peace if there is one person, who isn't running with the crowd. The one, who is different and sees that something isn't right. And then the people follow.

The music is good and the dances. I like musicals and I think music is a good way to express the feeling and brings the emotions closer to the audition. You can see that the film is old because of the picture and the sound. 

The JaZZ singer

     This movie has a big message about tradition to be decoded.  I believe that the movie is saying there is always time for tradition, the jazz singer never forgets his prayers.  However the movie is also saying that these traditions shouldn't be what gets in the way between you and the things you love.  Tradition is something to fill a hole inside, not to weigh you down so much that you can't progress.  I believe that as far as message is concerned this movie was very good at saying what it had to say while using few words.  Due to the musical nature of this film, along with great expression I was always caught up with the story and never felt a lack of plot knowledge.  This film receives 10 out of 10 runaways.

The Jazz Singer

I am not a fan of the silent film personally, I can't tend to keep a positive focus on the film and take in the message of the focal point of the film. But in the time era that the movie was created I can say I am impressed with the shot selection and the editing in the film with the limited amount of technology that was given and it is cool to see the progress that was made with warner productions in the years that it has been making film to the modern day.

West side story

West side story it was a pretty good movie, I like the song in this movie, the filmmaker used songs and dance to tell us a love story beween jewish girl and a Italian boy. They love each other, but her brother, they can not let people know, her brother already want his sister marry to a boy in his club. So they fight. Sometimes I think that music is pretty noisy, and they can dancing everywhere,on the street and in the room. But this still a good movie, its talk about teenagers, I feel pretty relax and happy when I watched this movie, they dont have to worry about anything.

West Side Story

West side story it was a pretty good movie, I like the song in this movie, the filmmaker used songs and dance to tell us a love story beween jewish girl and a Italian boy. They love each other, but her brother, they can not let people know, her brother already want his sister marry to a boy in his club

West Side Story

In West Side Story there is a racial difference/conflict between the Jets and Sharks. Musicals are not my favorite, but this movie added drama, suspense, and adventure which made this a quite enjoyable experience. The way the director choreographed the singing and dancing along with relating them with fights and love scene was genius in itself. I have never seen this movie before yet I recognized some of the music which just goes to show how iconic this movie actually is.

The movie West side story was pretty good it hd some good drama in it, that i enjoyed like the rumble that was pretty intense, when bot of the leaders were killed i thought the movie was gonna end but then i remembered that tony and maria were completely in love. The cinematography in this movie was very good for its time i though, all the seta were detailed and looked really good for the setting of the city. I also really enjoyed how all the characters personalities were expressed instead of just having them in the background. Then one thing i personally didn't not enjoy at all was the singing, im just not a the type that likes singing in my movies, they should be separate. But other than taht i really loked the movie West side Story.

West Side Story

I have never fully understood the concept of a musical, I thought the musical genre of film was to appreciate music rather than a story line. In West Side Story the concept of music and dance is brought into a story line of two gangs in the big city and their conflicts and rather than fighting and yelling it is a singing and dancing type of film but it is as if it is normal for that to happen, this film was interesting to watch and see how the direction put in the dance and singing exedra.. to the core of a rather interesting story.

I have never been a fan of musicals, I get really sick of the singing and I think it ruins the movie. Nobody breaks out into song in real life, when I watch a movie I usually want to see real stuff I don't find musicals entertaining, just really annoying. But this was easily the best musical I've seen. The dancing and music wasn't overwhelming and annoying like it usually is. I find most musicals to be more of a way to connect the music into a story, so if I like the music I tend to like the movie. But this musical was more of a movie than most I have seen, there was a better plot to it and stuff actually was going on. The acting was pretty cheesy, but every musical I've seen is that way so I'm going to assume it's supposed to be. But the filming was great, I really liked most of the shots and it made it interesting to watch. I actually found myself watching and trying to kind of learn how to film from it. 

West side Story

     This musical is compassionate yet violent.  I love the contradicting themes throughout this movie.  I never did feel that this movie was written based on a biased view of latinos because it was also wrote on a biased view of white "punks."  This evens it out, as well as the fact that Maria is a very common name, and a cute one for such a cute face.  The emotion shown throughout the acting in this movie is superb.  Not once did I feel that I was just hearing lines being read off of a piece of paper, in fact I felt like these words were actually coming from the characters heart.  This script along with the chosen group of actors was fantastic, and I do not think it could be done better.  Give this movie 10 out of 10 gang members in a fight.
