The film Cinderella Man is about the boxer Jim Braddock. The film acts during the time of the Great Depression. He lost his job as a boxer and has to do another job. But then he got a chance to start little box fights again and he's successful. His family has to struggle with poverty during that time very much. The winter is hard for them because they can't pay the electricity anymore so the company turns off the electricity and they freeze a lot and have almost no food.
And as wouldn't be it bad enough Jim breaks his hand, so fighting with a broken hand is actually impossible. The mother decides to send the kids to family members, where they can live warm with enough food until the family has enough money again. That makes Jim angry and sad to let his family break apart but he doesn't give up and he fight literally for his family in the boxing ring.
Russel Crowe, who acts the character Jim Braddock, is amazing in this film.
The film was also more exciting than Amazing Grace because you could feel more with the family from the beginning until the end. In Amazing Grace it was pretty hard to build a relationship with the characters. And at the final fight you were really electrified.
The film shows also how the people lived during the Great Depression and that you shouldn't judge people from the outside and how they are dressed. Because Jim's manager was always nice dressed and he lived in a wealthy looking house but when Jim's wife entered the house, nothing was in there, no furniture because they couldn't afford that anymore.
I like this film because he never gives up and it shows what people are able to do, when they have to fight for something.
