Jaws is such an exciting movie! I had never seen it before today and I had originally thought that it it was made so long ago the digital effects would be below standard and very fake looking. Now I see that it was really quite realistic and thrilling. It is one of my biggest fears to get lost in the ocean and I can only imagine how scary it would be to be chased by a shark. The scientist that comes to study the shark is kind of a odd man but he knows the terror that happened on the beach is just beginning of something more to come . Martin is scared of the ocean and terrified of sharks, he won't even go swimming with his kids, although now he is forced to go out looking for the man-eater out on the waters he fears most. It is so sad when the young boy is killed by the shark and in a way it was the towns people's fault because they were more interested in getting money from tourists than the safety of others. I don't understand why the people won't listen to the scientist and only care about getting back to the beach, they are making a huge mistake. All the old men fisherman who jump on their boats and try to catch the shark with a chain and hook are so stupid and underestimate the power of a shark.
I think that a shark was chosen because of the qualities we all associate with these amazing and deadly creatures. Sharks have been around since prehistoric times and they are always characterized as man-eaters when ever we hear about them. The plot is actually quite realistic because rouge sharks have been know to attack (like bethany hamilton, in soul surfer) so people are already scared this could potentially happen to you. I got chills when he was talking about the sharks "inhuman eyes rolling back as he takes a bite" because sharks are real life monsters. Everyone knows what a shark is but most people are uneducated to what they should do in a situation where they come into contact with one, so it makes everyone wonder what it would be like and if they would survive.
