Cinderella Man

Normally i’m not into boxing because beating another man nearly to the point of death never interested me, but by the end of this film I was shouting at the screen for Jim Braddock to win the fight. I’ve seen this film before with my dad, and I could watch it over a hundred times. I’m a big fan of the main actor Russell Crowe, probably because he plays gladiator as well (which is another one of my favorite movies). The storyline hooked me right away from the beginning of the film. It was sad to see that during that time period people didn’t care how much they made, they just desperately wanted a job. It would be hard to go through an economic crash like that with a family. The camera movements and shot selection impressed me because it looked like they really were hitting each other, especially in the close up shots. I always wondered how they made that visual effect work so well. I believe people can relate to this film now because not everyone is perfectly financially stable, and Jim Braddock gives them a sense of hope. Just like he did for everyone in that church before he started his final match. I loved how intense this film became by the end, I felt like I was on the edge of my seat during every fight. The first time I watched it was so long ago that I forgot how it ended, so it was just as suspenseful the second time. I wouldn’t do anything differently as the director because I enjoyed everything about this film. :)
