I See Dead People

The Sixth Sense was a great introduction into our horror genre unit.  It is very interesting how M. Night Shyamalan always makes interesting twists that really make you think.  Malcolm, a child psychologist, is reminded in the beginning of failing a past patient.  Unknown to the viewers, he dies.  Over the next few months, he tries to redeem himself by helping another patient, Cole, "see's dead people."  He successfully helps him and finds out that he himself is dead and Cole has been seeing him the whole time.  It was well shot and all the right scenes were played at the right time.  Overall, a great movie!

The 6th Sense

I hate horror films. I always have. I don't like the feeling of being afraid. I've never even been in a haunted house. I have absolutely no desire to. Seeing that we're in a horror genre, seeing something scary was unavoidable. I've been dreading this unit ever since I saw it on the syllabus. But, in order to properly review the movies, I must take as much inherent hate from my opinions.

The Sixth Sense is a quality film. The fact that they had a relatively small amount of gore is respectable. In general, horror films try to disgust you into fear. This was a more creepy, building fear, which is a lot harder well than gore.

I actually knew the end to this film because in 50 First Dates, Drew Barrymore mentions it. I like that movie.

I still don't like horror films.

The 6th sense

The movie is OK, but not that great. While there are moments in the film that have obvious impact, the bulk of the movie I found quite dull. Seems to me that the script writers patted themselves on the back for coming up with a great story line and got lax about the rest of the movie. I didn't see this in a theater and I am glad I saw it to see what all the fuss was about, yet not pay the theater price. Highly over rated, in my opinion.

Sixth Sense Critique

The Sixth Sense manages to create a horror movie that doesn't rely on gore and jump scares very often. It plays off of a great story and mental themes that make things scary.  The whole movie succeeds in being scary and interesting before you even know the twist at the end and then when it is revealed it just puts a whole new light on an already amazing film.  When you see that everything fits into place you appreciate it more than you already did and how it keeps your attention before you know whats really going on the whole time.  The theme of redemption in this movie i strong in both Malcom and Cole's stories.  Malcom needs redemption for the failure of his prior patient and Cole needs to find a way to live a normal life with this incredible problem he has.  They end up helping each other and it ties together really well.

Sixth Sense

I remember watching this movie when I was younger, and it didn't have the same affect on me as it did this most recent time watching it. This movie, will never be able to be beaten in the suspense/horror film. This film has everything, from the one of the most dramatic scenes to a very famous line to twists and turns that no one expects. People who usually do not get scared will be sitting on the edge of their seats whilst watching this movie. Cole, the little boy who can see ghosts, captures your heart from the first time you see him. His charm and the essence around him makes you want to help and care for him. His sense of humility and kindness makes everyone want to be his friend. The way that the movie made Cole look was just a way that will never be comparable to. The plot, the hidden meaning and the reveal at the end of the movie surprised everyone. This movie is full of underlying detail and meaning, this movie will forever be one of my favorite horror/suspense film.

6th Sense film

I don't watch many suspense movies but I liked this one. It was different from others there was more of a plot line and it made sense at the end. The ending was peaceful but also a nail bitter because he slowly realized that he was actually dead. I had some questions like why couldn't dead people see other dead people? Or How did Cole receive this "gift"I wasn't able to see the beginning so much of the movie was confusing to me but I caught on quickly. I thought this movie was very well laid out and would give it 4 out of 5 stars just on the based on the end.

The Sixth Sense: "I See Dead People."

Before I start this review I will first like to say: Happy Halloween! Being Halloween it is the prefect time to sit back and watch a horror film. The Sixth Sense is a suspense film that follows a man, who failed to help a patient in the past and has received a second chance to help a young boy that show similar symptoms as the other kid. This film is good but I wouldn't say it was very scary or that it falls into the genre of horror, yet it does have some good qualities that make you want to view it until the end. And trust me, you want to see the film all the way through because there's a huge twist that changes the whole story of the movie.

Famous movie quote: "I see dead people." - Cole (The Sixth Sense)

The Sixth Sense

The twist of Malcolm actually being dead after the scene of the gunshot makes you recap the whole movie in your head. After watching the final scene I pictured every scene in this movie from another persons point of view when in reality Malcolm never really existed in anything that we saw happen. In life their are second chances and you rarely get second chances and Malcolm needed to make his peace with god and after aiding Cole with his problem he had made his peace and redeemed himself from his former patient who he "failed."

Happy Halloween Everyone! Sixth Sense Film Critique

I had a blast at college day but as soon as I got home I finished watching sixth sense. I have to say that I get chills every time Cole says "I see dead people" I think that Haley Joel Osment's acting was just phenomenal in this movie, I mean he is such a little kid who it pulling off a super complex roll basically flawlessly. I happen to be a big fan of M. Night Shamalyn's work with a few exceptions but I think this is one of his best projects! The twist at the end is so brilliantly done and I don't think that most people were able to catch on their first time watching it.
Cole shows symptoms of abuse and mental illness but in reality he is just gifted or in his opinion cursed.   He can see dead people who don't fully understand that they are dead. These people have a lot of unresolved feelings and can be somewhat scary. Cole ends up using his gift to help a little girl named Kyra who is being poisoned by her stepmother.

***Spoilers****

In the end Malcolm realizes that his wife is not just ignoring him but is suffering depression of his death. He comes to understand that he was one of the dead people who didn't know he was dead!!! Malcolm was in fact killed by Vincent the night of the break in and has been around ever since. It is so cool how the viewer doesn't know he is dead anymore than he himself does. Every sense implies his wife is just mad about how he has changed or forgetting their anniversary or something like that. The only words she says are too herself but they could also seem like she was speaking to him.

Snow White

If it was not for Snow White then there would not have all these great animation we have today and Snow White was a great animation for the first animation movie it was a advanced for its time. The thing about Snow White everyone knows the story and the seven dwarf's its just a classiest. I don't really like Princes movies but this was on of the better princes movie. When I was I little kid the first time I say Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs I was scared of the witch she gave me nightmares for a long time.

OVER THE HEDGE

I enjoyed Over the Hedge because a film always seems more entertaining when there are talking animals. Each of characters had a personality that matched the animal they were, like the raccoon for example. Raccoons usually come off as trouble makers causing problems everywhere. The turtle was a good example of this too because turtles seem timid and cautious. I like animated shows like this because some of the stuff that happens would not be as over exaggerated and exciting as an animated movie can make it, like the scene when the red wagon is flying into the air. Most people don’t like animated films because they’re not realistic, but I think that’s the best thing about them because it makes them more exciting and appealing.

Over the hedge

Over the Hedge was a cheerful movie it had a great ending and a delightful story line. Disney really picked great cast for creators like how Steve Carell did a great job on Hammy's voice all the energy he had I just could not keep up. They did a great job on putting the right persanlady on the characters I loved the movie.

Over the Hedge Critique

Over the Hedge has always been a movie I enjoyed, as a kid I loved this movie but being young I was not aware how much detail is put into the animation process of making a movie of this high of quality of detail and I also noticed how the animals in real life, for example R.J is a raccoon which the raccoon is a stealing animal who only cares about itself which R.J was. R.J was selfish but yet intelligent and tricked the other animals over the hedge into forging food so he can give it all to a bear he was in debt with and leave all the animals starving for the winter. All the animals personalities in this movie really corresponded to the real life attitudes of those particular animal species.

Over The Hedge

Over the Hedge is a funny film with funny characters.
In the film RJ the raccoon and his other animal friends from the wood steal the food from the humans.
The humans try to kill the animals. But RJ and his friends succeed to escape always.

It's a good story, which can be watched as just a  funny animation film or also as a fable which you can delegate to real life. So the humans take away the living space from the animals. So it's hard for the animals to survive and find food

PAID IN FULL

Paid In Full was an instant favorite for me! Another Hood/Drama,  but this time it's a true story. It shows you how fast things can go downhill in real life, and how living in the Harlem ghetto and trying to make money is nothing easy through the life of Ace. This movie fills you with such mixed emotions, on minute you are laughing and the next minute you have your face in your hands from disbelief. Ace's world goes from an average harlem dude to running Harlem's drug world, then his world falls apart around him. This was a great movie and i would recommend it to anyone who loves true drama or hood movies.

Smoke signals

Smoke signals may be one of my favorite movies, i loved the actors and the characters they played. The story line is so meaningful, i have never seen a movie that made me feel that way, it actually makes you think about more than just a movie.
Snow white being the first full length animation is obviously going to be an instant classic, but obviously the animation is no 3D pixar or dreamworks movie. The characters are great, every voice, every outfit  and mannerism are perfect. And of course being a disney movie the dialog is perfect, every word spoken in the movie is necessary and the movie would not be the same without it.
Over the hedge is an amazing movie in the world off animation. To start out the animation was amazing, the colors and everything looked so realistic. The personalities of each character fit their animal perfectly. This is one of those movies that get better every time you see it, you notice something new every watch and who doesn't love a movie like that.

Heyyyyy R.J.

Over the Hedge is one of my favorite 3d animations, I love the story, the characters, and the quality of the animation.  The hair on the animals looks so realistic that it makes the animation look incredible.  The characters and dialogue are well written and have a lot of pretty funny references that even older people would enjoy.  I like that it has a theme about consumerism but it doesn't try to force it or shove it in your face.  I thought that the story is somewhat dark when you really think about it but the characters are so comical and lighthearted and it makes it more of a happy movie.  Overall I would rate Over the Hedge as one of my top Pixar movies.

Princess Bride

The Princess Bride is a timeless classic. The fairy tale of stable boy turned pirate Westley's journey to rescue Buttercup, his true love. The evil Prince Humperdink however has manipulated Buttercup into marrying him years after what she had believed to be news of Westley's death. With help of some close friends they star-crossed lovers are able to reunite. The tireless movie will never get old. No one will ever be able to create a story or movie that will match the detail and the supreme beauty that the Princess Bride captures.

Over the Hedge Critique

Generally, I'm not a Dream Works fan, but I think that Over the Hedge is much higher quality as far as humor and appeal to older crowds.  Among other motifs in the film, I thought the satire about suburban life was pretty funny.  A little depressing as well.  The animation quality is fantastic, even a step up from Shrek.  The first time I saw this movie, I remember thinking that it was pretty stupid, but obviously, I wasn't paying very close attention, because the dialog is actually quite cunning, and I had a good laugh several times.
Surprisingly, the voice actors actually stand out in this movie as being pretty good, with Bruce Willy killing it as the cool, sly, deceptive raccoon, and Steve Carrel as the crazy, tweaky squirrel (this actually fits him well).  Almost as memorable as Donkey from Shrek.  One complaint is that the plot seems formulaic at times, and while the theme of the importance of friends/family is sweet, it's also overused and a bit corny.  Also, I thought the modern-alternative sound track was crap.  Except the last song about suburban neighbor hoods, which was very fitting and kinda funny.  Overall one of the better movies I've seen.  7/10
This movie let me know do not betray your friend and your family. The family believe you,  do not make them said. This is want people know do not broken the forest, we need care more about this little animal, just not kill them. This movie talk about a animal name is the R.J. He was so hungry, he looking for the food. there was a bear's house here . But the spring is not coming the bear is still sleeping.R.J decided to go to the bear' house and take all food away before the bear awake up. But that too loud and the bear wake up and the R.J lost all the food. The food is gone. The bear give R.J about one week to find all the food back. But thats impossible. R.J found a new small town here. And find the other animal here. R.J to makes friends with this animal and teach these animal to take the human's food and to find all the food back. His one friend know his plant, R.J just wants to finish this. But he lets his friends in dangerous, last R.J change his mid and he wants to fix it, he goes back and to fight with the bear. So R.J really join the big friend. that's pretty good end.

Over the Hedge

Over the Hedge is a very funny and family friendly film, with cute humor that is perfect for kids and adults. Each animal in this film had the perfect personality to go with them, like hammy (the squire) possessed a very crazy and hyper character and I for one always think of squires as being very hyperactive and have a lot of energy because they are constantly moving. This film is differently not a waste of your time and will keep a smile on your face from beginning to end.

Over The Hedge

Over the Hedge is one of my childhood favorites. I've always loved the cartoons, and to see the animation have such quality for its time really does the characters well. The physics in the film has its faults at times, but in general, it's quite accurate. The fur on the animals was astounding. In Toy Story, they didn't have the technology to do hair or water. The fact that the advancements made in animation software made this possible in ten years time, with this quality, is crazy, almost unheard of.

Over the Hedge

Over the Hedge was a great film to show how much progression animation films have made over the years. Each animals species in this movie had its own personality and the theme of family was portrayed very strongly. The whole family (despite their differing personalities) worked together to save R.J from the bear and survive the winter. Also the realistic detail used to make this movie was great, all the scenes of the forrest and the scenery around the neighborhood the people lived in was very realistic.

Over The Fry Bread

Over the Hedge was a funny animation that I really enjoyed. I remember watching it when it first came out and I didn't like it that much but after watching it again, I thought it was a lot better the second time around. I wish I could compare it with Snow White but this was 100x better in my opinion. It's newer so they had better technology and everything, Snow White wasn't too interesting in my opinion but Over the Hedge was funny, entertaining, kid friendly, and badass. I would recommend this to everyone. 9/10

Over The Hedge

Over The Hedge is a fantastic portrayal of cooperation, family, and love in a fun animated way that included the roles of animals. The way the animals were displayed was virtually perfect, hammy as the fast and crazy hamster, vern as the calculative turtle, stella as the graceful but short tempered skunk, RJ as the scavenging hungry raccoon, the Ozzie and heather as the scared and precautionary possums, Spike as the fun/family porcupine, and the Vincent as the scary mean bear.  Each character resembles what we think them as in real life, which is brilliant when making a fun movie that both children and adults can watch and be entertained by.

Animals

The movie Over the Hedge was an very original movie. I found it to be very funny and kept my interest in it. My favorite character would Hammy the Squirrel because of his energy and the character was funny. I feel it would be very hard to get into the mindset of just voicing over and I give the actors props for doing so. I would give this movie 5 out of 5 starts because it was so great and original.

Smoke Signals

It was really interesting to see Smoke Signals and talk to the director right after. He emphasized the importance of subtext in a film. In Smoke Signals, an example of subtext is at the end of the film when Victor is spreading his father's ashes in the river. You can't see his face, and that gives the viewer the ability to imagine what his facial expression is. The director said that he'd actually planned on showing his emotion, but the lighting wasn't right. He almost redid the scene, but he decided that he liked it better this way.

Sneaky, Sly, Dastardly

Over the hedge was a very well produced animated movie.  The way each character was made and introduced made me feel truly involved in their life and problem.  In OTH the antagonist or the bear really helps R.J. the raccoon find his true happiness with in his family he found.  This movie really incorporates a lot of teamwork and chemistry through stealing food with animals you'd think were enemies such as the skunk and the cat.  This movie did a great job of stereotyping the characteristics people think a turtle, chipmunk, or any other animal could have.  I give it a 8 out of 10 spuddies.

Over The Hedge

Over the Hedge was a fun movie.  After watching Snow White, you can really see that animation has come a very long way over the years.  I think that computer animation is better than hand drawn slides. The story was also interesting with different themes throughout.  It was interesting how it ended as well.  Overall, I enjoyed the story.  There weren't really any dull moments.  It was a good movie.

Over the hedge film critique

Over the hedge fits into the animated category but also the action adventure category because the animals friends go on a crazy journey to "forage" the food from over the big green wall. As a viewer we go from the peaceful forest where a bunch of animals are waking up from hibernation to the chaotic city where they are forced to drive a car and are being chased by a bear. I love how the humans are pictured as these villainous greedy and over-indulgent creatures because this movie is really only about the animals and how they are actually more sophisticated than us. One of my favorites parts was when hammy finally got to drink the energy drink and was able to move so fast it slowed down time. I'm pretty sure turtles can't just take off their shells anytime they want but it's super funny when Verne does! I think this movie is a lot of fun and teaches people about forgiveness, friendship, trust, and making good choices.
I think it's cute how stella finds a man who's perfect for her because he can't smell, and isn't that what we all want? To be perfect in someone else's eyes. Everyone makes mistakes big or small you should always try to forgive people or it will just end up haunting you in the end. I love revisiting these movies because it reminds me how much I love film! I love how for 2 hours you are taken away to another place and can just let go and relax. Also I love how a story comes to life and you can take a complicated lesson and make it fun and enjoyable.

Over the hedge

I really enjoyed the movie Over the hedge, it has a great story behind the plot and a nice message to it . The animation was extremely well done and extremely smooth. the movie keeps you hook and on the edge the whole movie, thumbs up.

Snow White

Snow White is revolutionary film for the sheer amount of effort put into the movie. Animation is done in layers, so for each scene, you have to sketch the background, ink the background, transfer the ink image onto a cel sheet (a clear piece of plastic, similar to a page protector), and paint the background to add the color. You then have to do this for every motion the character makes and overlay those cel sheets on top of the background cel sheet. By using this method, you can easily accumulate thousands and thousands of these cel sheets. Crazy.

Stock, Lock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Independent Crtique

This movie is about confusion, mistakes, and misinterpretation that connects a
web of criminals and gangs to battle to the death.  At the root, four friends blindly
catalyze this small war with good intentions, but bad judgement.

It’s very well paced.  Not too fast, but never boring.  Kept me on my toes the whole
time.  Also, I found myself very emotionally connected with the characters, which made
the witty plot twists even more exciting.  The movie seems very coherent in all it’s
elements.  It seems as if the actors, writers, director, and editors all somehow managed
to mesh and collaborate to actually make a truly captivating film.  The humor is fantastic
as well.  I think the brits have a more sophisticated funny bone than us.  That’s probably
just me though.

Cinematography was superb. It is near impossible to do anything in a movie
today that has not already been done. You can either do nothing - or do whatever you
can as long as it suits the mood and the flow of the movie, and Guy Ritchie just cannot
be faulted. He projects the seedy, miserable weathered London, yet with
such style that you want to see more. The camera work could not have been better. Just
see the projection of Eddy's unsteady, light-headed wooziness as he gets up from the
gambling table having lost everything and owing even more.

     Brilliant.

Snow White

In a young girls childhood there are certain movies that will always remain in her heart. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was that movie for me. In the classic fairy tale of a young princess who is forced to leave the castle when to her wicked step mother tries to have her killed. She then lives with seven dwarves.

Not only is the storyline of this film amazing and precise, but the actual drawing of the film was produced by hand picture frame by picture frame. This still baffles me at the idea of drawing a 2 hour movie by hand. This only goes to show you just how dedicated Disney was to ensure that they had the best animated films. They surely did not disappoint with Snow White.

Over the Hedge

This adorable animation brings all different personalities together. From the old wise turtle to the new and hip raccoon. We all know someone who is one or the other. We all know someone who reminds us of the excessive energetic squirrel. We all have that grumpy, invasive neighbor that we can't seem to get off of our backs.  The great aspect about this movie is it relatable to all people of all ages. I love in the end of course he isn't going to steal all of their food to save himself. Putting himself before the others is a great moral to show to little children who are the targeted audience. The subtext in this movie is great.

I also love the character development in this movie. It shows that each person is individual in society and that you can be whatever kind of person that you want to.

Apollo 13

To start off I would like to say that I loved this movie. For when it was made it is a spectacular movie. I love the actors, the plot and the fact that it was based off of a true story only adds to the suspense. Everything about this movie screams adventure. I love the actor Tom Hanks so that only adds to the brilliance. The adventure in the movie is one to keep you on the edge of your seat. Apollo 13 is a movie that will keep you guessing and hoping until the last five minutes of the movie.

Snow White Film Critique

I had never seen this film before and I would not second think that the effort put into this was as hard as it really was. I was not aware in early animations films that all the scenes had to be drawn out frame by frame. This would take years to finish. One minute of film could have been weeks to draw all the scenes and frames for but in a movie as long as snow white the effort put into it was extraordinary. This film took so much work to produce and put together and while watching it is hard to believe that all the scenes are drawn out frame by frame and all the detail re done and re done again to ensure everything looks perfect. The amount of time to make something so simple amazed me and it makes me appreciate a lot more how much time was put in to movies like snow white where at first a blindness to the viewers of the effort put in takes place.

Apollo 13 Film -Critique-

After figuring out that this movie is a true story it made it a lot more interesting for me, it was cool to see how things actually happened from actually viewing what was going on inside the spacecraft. This was defiantly a film where when stopped for the day you were on the edge of your seat curious to see what was going to happen next. This film was great to show the viewers a great visual of what happened from the astronauts on board point of view. The special effects were phenomenal showing the zero gravity and the scenes of outer space. Nothing looked fake and all looked very realistic and the time and effort put into making this movie did a great job for a re interpretation  of a true story.

Apollo 13 (Film Critique)

Normally i'm not into space shows, but Apollo 13 was really good. The actors kind of seemed dull and boring at first, but once they were in the space ship you could tell they were nervous, excited, stressed, etc. The filming was done really well because it looked like they were really in space. Nothing seemed too fake and I felt like I was watching a documentary. You can easily tell when the tone shifts from excited to worried because when the astronauts first got into space they act relaxed and relieved that the launch went well. Their mission shifted from going to the moon to making sure they get home alive (which definitely changed the tone of the movie). It was suspenseful and dramatic because one minute it would seem like they were going to for sure make it home, and then all of the sudden something else would go wrong and they would barely fix it in time. Although you could tell the other astronauts didn't do to well under pressure, Jim took initiative and tried to keep them calm (although you could tell he was worried too).

Snow White (Film Critique)

I've always loved Snow White, and not just because my nieces make me watch it a thousand times a day. Even though it is an older animated film, it's cool to see how animation started out. When the characters talk the mouths don't always match up with what they are saying, but it's not very distracting to me. The way the characters express themselves through body motions is important too because it helps you better understand what the character is feeling and thinking (especially when a big portion of the film is singing). Same with the animals, they never talk during the film, but you can tell when they are scared, happy, worried, etc. just based off of their expressions. That's the bonus to an animated film like this, in a regular show it's hard to get animals to show emotion. But when the film is animated it makes it easy to perfect each characters personality. Although the names of the seven dwarfs paint an obvious picture of their personalities, you could guess their names just based off of how they act. I usually have a difficult time remembering who is who, but this film made it easy for me because all the characters were so different in their own funny way. The creators of Snow White even went through the trouble of making the voices match the characters. For example, you can tell Snow White is sweet and loving by her bubbly voice, and that the queen is mean and selfish by her stern, serious voice. Overall I enjoyed the film and will continue to watch it almost everyday with my nieces. :)

Ghost Town (Independent Film Critique)

Ghost Town was a great film that I could watch over and over again. It takes events that would normally sound scary (such as seeing ghosts and dying), and turns it into a dramatic comedy. The mixture of serious and funny scenes made the movie really entertaining and original. I loved the hidden sarcasm and dry personality of the main character Pincus. You can tell when he starts to fall in love with Gwen by his change of character and appearance. There are little hints throughout the movie that show Pincus becoming selfless. The way he treats other people is a reflection about how he feels about himself and his own life. Frank; the main ghost, wants to get rid of Richard supposedly because he thinks he's a "gold digger," but you can tell by the way he acts that he really just doesn't like him. Frank is insecure from cheating on Gwen, although he never admits it in the film. I thought this film was creative because the characters actions would lead you to think one thing, but would result in another. For example, Pincus's main goal was to get rid of Richard, but as a result he fell in love with Gwen. The mixture of comedy and drama also made this movie amusing to watch.

Smoke Signals

I enjoyed this film because although it definitely had its depressing parts (like the beginning), Thomas and Victor made funny travel buddies. This film seemed different from many of the others we have watched because the actors talked differently, and even though it wasn't made that long ago, Chris Eyre  made it seem like an old classic. I loved the way Thomas talked in the movie because it reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. He would say random things that wouldn't make any sense, but were funny because you never really knew what he was talking about. It was easy to see the difference between Victor and Thomas because Victor was a hard core indian that didn't come off all that friendly. Thomas was easy to talk to, very kind to people (even if he had just met them), and wouldn't hurt a fly. I think Victor put up with Thomas all the time (as much as he couldn't stand him) because he had lost both his parents when he was very young. This film was creatively written because there were many hidden themes (such as both Thomas and Victors parents dying, them meeting Suzy Song, both of them having rough childhoods, etc.) My favorite part of the whole film would have to be when Thomas constantly says "Hey Victor!"

El TacoDile Supreme!

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 is the continuation of the first movie in the series.  In this animated adventure you have a group of characters who's home town is covered in food and a company promises to come clean it up and offers these islanders a job and a home on the shore so the islanders agree.  This movie then goes on into the plot of the evil scientist turning living food creatures into food bars.  This movie is a true test of friendship as well as teamwork, and self determination.  This movie goes deep into the confides of our imagination to bring us food creatures I would have never thought of.  This is an entertaining movie, but not a must see.  I give it 6 licorice sticks out of 10.

The Incredibles Critique

The Incredibles is a great animation and an all around great movie.  The Incredibles takes a world full of superheroes and forces them to go into hiding living out regular people lives after a lawsuit.  What makes this movie interesting to a lot of people is that while these people all have amazing superpowers that would make their lives so incredible, they can't use them and share the same normal problems that everyone else shares.  The script is different than some of Pixar's other films.  It is written with a bit more mature dialogue than films like Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc.  It feels more like a spy movie than a typical Pixar family movie.  This is probably why it got a PG rating rather than a G rating, of course that isn't to say its a dark or violent movie, its still a kids animation, but one with a unique story with some interesting plays on a common genre.

Snow White Film Critique

As I watched this film, I was caught off a bit off guard. I haven't seen the film in easily seven or eight years, and I still enjoyed it as much as I did when I was toddler. It was like taking a trip down memory lane, and in the best possible way. I was surprised I still remembered a huge percentage of the lines and what happened during certain scenes, and which ones stood out to me as a kid. The film was ground-breaking for its time, and although it would be considered rather adolescent nowadays in terms of animation, it's still incredible to think about the countless artists and cartoonists that spent years working on the film. I remember as a four or five year old, I was still amazed at the sounds and movements that the characters made and didn't even notice some of the glitches in the film. But looking closer, there definitely are quite a few, but that may be just what makes the movie so thrilling and enjoyable to watch. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was, and still is one of the classics and will continue to entertain audiences young, and old for generations to come.

Snow White

The main act in Snow White is, that Snow White is more beautiful than the bad queen, who is jealous  that Snow White is more beautiful than her. Thats the reason why she flew of the bad queen to the seven dwarf in the wood. She lived there until the bad queen comes to their house and gave an toxic apple to Snow White, which Snow White eats. After she ate this apple she fell in a long sleep and couldn't wake up. The dwarfs thought she's dead. After a long time a prince came over and kissed Snow White back to live.

I watched this "old"first version of Snow White when I was little. It was interesting to see how the animation films changed in the years.  It was also fun to watch this film again, because it's a long time ago that I watched this film.

Lilo and Stitch by disney

This class has really opened my eyes and my heart to film. I used to watch a movie once and decide if it was a “good” or “bad” movie based on the plot or the characters or something like that. Now I see a film and can value a film for all of it’s parts combined. Lilo and Stitch was not my favorite movie when I first saw it because I didn’t really like the way stitch was drawn and I thought he looked a little too scary to be loveable. Now I realize that it adds depth to the character to be unconventionally “cute” because the whole point of his journey is to find a place to fit in because he is a misfit. Lilo loves stitch no matter his appearance and teaches everyone else too love him too. When he first comes to earth he is animalistic and has only the basic emotion of survival and the goal of getting back to his home planet, but as Lilo teaches stitch about “ohana” he learns that he wants a family too. I just love the saying used in the movie “Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind” this is truly what family should mean, but sadly to a lot of people it doesn’t. Even Lilo herself refers to her and Nani and a “broken family” and hints at the fact her parents left in some way and that tore everything apart. Family really is the lifeblood of happiness, because without those people who understand you and love you unconditionally, there is only appearances. Lilo and stitch is such a heart-warming film that you can feel good about your whole family watching together. I also really liked how Lilo wasn’t perfect. Many disney characters hold people up too unobtainable goals of beauty, intelligence and over all popularity, but Lilo is “broken” her parents are no longer around, she bites the other kids at school and plays with her voodoo dolls. This is an amazing movie!
The bad queen find the snow white's house and make up. So she looks like a old lady and she has a the poison apple. She want the snow white's house and sell the apple. Snow white think she just a pool old lady and let her came in the house. The queen said if the snow white eat the apple, she will be more  beautiful than now. Snow white ate the apple and fall down. The animal ask the seven dwarfs go home but they didn't understand what's that mean so when they go home that was too late. they wants to catch the queen, and she falling off a cliff. They are so said about the snow white. After winner they already to buried snow white, she looks still beautiful. Then there is a king come here, he kiss the snow white. after that snow white wake up.because the first love kiss. Everybody was exciting about that. But snow white should go with the king. After that snow white with the king had happiness of life.

Snow White, a New Direction

Snow White inspired a remarkable new direction in the evolution of film, and is surprisingly well done considering that it's the first feature length animated film.  Although, it is a little boring.  I'm not to crazy about musical numbers in movies, and Snow White is full of them.  Also, Snow White offers little in the direction of an original plot, and none of the characters have any depth.  The evil, jealous queen is evil and jealous; the beautiful, graceful Snow White is beautiful and graceful; and the handsome, cunning prince is handsome and cunning.
Although, I don't think that my criticisms above *really* matter, because Snow White is almost just a proof of concept film which makes it an extraordinary film, worth its weight in gold, in that regard.  It's a film well worth watching, because it signifies a vital development of what we understand to be film today.

SNOW white ending

I was very surprised by this movie. I haven't seen it for a very long time maybe 12 years. The animations were very insinc for how long ago it was created. The movie also was very interesting and I like it a lot. I would only change the ending it was god all the way till the end. It seemed like they just wanted to stop it so they solved it with a kiss and then everyone was happy after that. I would give this a 8 out of 10 because of the ending I thought this movie was very good and interesting.

SNOW WHITE

,Snow White was actually a very great movie and it was more entertaining than I thought it would be. The animation was a perfectly in sync with all of the sound and music which made for a realistic thought. I enjoyed watching the movie because older film is always very attention catching to me and I was very into it. I miss old movies so this made me feel like I was a lot younger than I am today. I would recommend everyone to watch it at least once. 8 out of 10

SnoW wHiTe!-7 DwarFs

Snow White is a great love story involving jealousy, and greed.  The queen is a very self absorbed character in which she only truly cares about being the prettiest and will not be truly satisfied until she is.  Snow White is a very humble and caring character, she proves this by showing her love and charisma to the 7 dwarfs.  This movie being one of, if not the first animated film was very good.  I found myself having difficulty staying awake mainly because it is not as fast paced as I prefer my movies.  Snow White definitely has an amazing plot and story line similar to that of a children's book, and is a story to be shared with generations to come.  Even if you don't truly like slower paced films i'd give this one a shot so that you can experience history!  I give this love story 7 dwarfs out of 10.

Snow White

Snow White was a wonderful example of ingenuity, perseverance, and Devine creativity on a producing basis. The mere fact that it was hand drawn, manually matched audio, and to be a whole feature film is quite amazing by itself. Walt Disney wanted to do something that had never been done before, to make a feature animation in the times where it looked to be impossible. Walt Disney executed it with the perfect story that got not only kids involved, but adults as well as it was a fantastic film regardless of animation. The story involves love, suspense, happiness, and integrity. One of my favorite parts would be when the castle soldier did not kill Snow White because he found it in his heart not to do so which complimented the movie with integrity.
The film was a master piece of its time and is still enjoyed as a fun Disney animation to all who appreciate film.

Snow White Was Pretty Good.

Snow White was a technological wonder for its time.  Created a full length feature film that is entirely hand drawn playing at 24 frames a second took a lot of work and showed the world that animation was more than just a short amusement for kids.  After this movie, all kinds of new animations came out and it revolutionized film.  The movie itself is very well made, it had good voice acting, quality sound effects, and a timeless story of the classic fairy tale.  Appreciating the amount of time and work that went into this movie considering it was made in the 1930's adds a lot of enjoyment to every second of the animation.  I think everyone needs to see this movie not only because it is a good story but it is the beginning of the animated film genre.

Snow White

Snow White was pretty good.  Personally, I didn't really like the story, but the more amazing point of the film was introducing full feature animations.  It's crazy to think how many animations that they had to hand draw.  Another interesting thing about the film is that they hand to record each sound for the movie.  Overall, it opened the door for full feature animations which is what made this movie good.

Snow White Film Critique

Snow white and the 7 dwarves may just be a silly disney princess movie to some people but for me it's a work or art. Every movement, character, and color had to but put in by hand, this really shows how we take the powers of digital animation for granted. Snow white's voice is sometimes painfully high pitched, but her sweet and innocent personality is what makes her stand out from other princesses. This story embodies the classic pure good vs pure evil lesson but I also think that it passes the message that looks are only superficial, you need to be beautiful on the inside too. I still wish there were such things as "wishing apples" and magic and watching this movie takes me back to my childhood when I thought anything was possible.
I love how they picked such simple names as Happy, Dopey, Sneezy, Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, and Bashful as the 7 dwarves names. Every single person can relate to all of these emotions, but all of them together make a person or in this case a family. Snow is so sweet and everyone that meets her (Expect the evil queen) falls in love with her, including the viewer.
I have started to notice that disney does in fact put a lot of complicated themes in their movies like life, death, love, and sorrow. The Evil queen dies by falling off a cliff but somehow it doesn't seem that violent. Disney manages to capture only the sweetest and most innocent parts of true love that makes any girl want to find her prince. The music is able to portray the emotion of each scene from utter tragedy when they think she is dead then to pure joy as Snow rides off into the sunset.
Some people critique movies like this for being too simple and unrealistic but I think we all need to see what a happy ending looks like because not everyone gets one in real life. I don't think you should have to only watch things that are deeply meaningful or make you think, because sometimes it's beneficial to feel good and happy.

The Lion King

The Lion King, released in 1994, is a film that is one of the most popular Disney animated films produced. Following the life of a lion cub, named Simba, who is destined to be the future king. Simba faces many different challenging events throughout the movie but is able to overcome all of them and claim his rightful spot as the king. The most amazing part of this whole film is that everything is hand drawn, in fact, more than a million drawings were created for this film. I for one love this film and think that the time and effort put into the making The Lion King turned out to be worth every minute.

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 came out in theaters in 2010, when I was 13. I have always loved the Toy Story series, and no matter how many times I see them, each one makes me cry. Not as much as Up, but I still cry. That's saying something, because I didn't cry in Les Mis. Not once.

What I've found that makes Toy Story 3 (along with Toy Story 1 and 2) is that they are all standalone fantastic movies, as well as an amazing trilogy. You could watch Toy Story 2 or 3 without seeing the previous ones and it would make complete sense. Many sequels tend to flop because they rely too heavily on the original film, like Grease 2. The key to a perfect sequel is to base the plot off of the original, but keep referencing and/or mimicking the original to a minimum. I'm curious to see how Catching Fire turns out, as it's the sequel to The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games was done very well; I just hope the director chose good scenes to highlight from the second book.

Also, I've heard rumors of a Toy Story 4, which I have mixed feelings about. On one hand, I feel like Disney is pressing their luck and might end up with a total flop for the movie, but on the other hand, if I know Disney, they'll knock it out of the park.

Apollo 13: What Really Happened

I had never seen this film before we viewed it in class, and I thought that the Apollo 13 mission crashed on the Moon and the spaceship exploded, so I was pleasantly surprised when they safely landed in the ocean. What I found most interesting about this film was that they really did give the movie the feeling of claustrophobia in the spaceship and the electricity in the NASA headquarters on Earth. This was created by the fantastic cinematography and sets built for this film. The angles of the camera in the spaceship felt like there was never more than 2 or 3 feet of space in the ship, which made even me in the audience feel crammed into my seat.

I missed the day in class where we viewed the middle of the film, but I saw the Beginning and the end of the film, so I will make up my own middle of the film.

After the tanks in the engine start sparking, all of the astronauts start freaking out and they send the guy that threw up earlier down to investigate. He then falls out of the spacecraft into space, and Tom Hanks has to dramatically jump out and grab him before he floats away forever. The ship lurches as Kevin Bacon, in his inexperience, accidentally bumps the steering wheel while dancing (it's his only opportunity to, since it's illegal in his hometown). The ship is spun off course and they are forced to abandon their mission to land on the Moon. The guy that fell out of the ship is so scared by what's out there he goes into a catatonic state, and is unable to be helpful in any way. Hanks then goes up to Bacon and says, "Reach for the sky!" and takes over command, having to operate the entire ship by himself. While he's on his way back to Earth, he runs into Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, who wish him well on his return home. He then lands safely in the Pacific after a suspenseful descent.

I'm pretty sure that's spot on.

Skyfall Film Critique

Following the long lived pop culture icon, James Bond, this film details a much more personal and close up profile than your average 007 movie. Not only does the lead actor Daniel Craig continue to add a more dark and sultry demeanor to Bond's character, he also incorporates violent aggression into the film, more so than his previous counter-parts. The remaining characters turn in performances that are just as strong and memorable.

Having grown up with the older James Bond movies, seeing this newest one was definitely a refreshing experience for me. Comparing the older movies and then getting a wake-up call to the newest and boldest one (out of the three featuring Craig as Bond)  was like watching your grandmother out-run Usain Bolt. The movie had many ongoing themes, but the most prominent  was revenge. Revenge not just for Bond, but for the villan in the movie who had been betrayed by his own agency many years back. The rogue tries to manipulate Bond and see his point of view, only for the sake of bad blood against his old boss, M.

Skyfall is one of those movies that you can watch again and again and never get tired of, although it may not be age appropriate for the youngsters (as many 007 films aren't) and there are some scary sequences and language, but it is a movie that everyone, young and old will enjoy and come to love.

Apollo 13 Film Critique

In the film Apollo 13 flying three astronauts to the moon. During they're in space something explodes in the spaceship.  With the help of the crew on earth and the clever crew in the space do they can fix the problem and come back home to earth.

I've never seen the film Apollo 13 before and didn't knew that this was a real story.
That this was happening made it much more exciting. I always thought how would it be if they can't come home and have to stay in the space.
The music was also a factor why it made it exciting and emotional.
I liked Tom Hanks in this film. He fits perfect for this role.
It was a great film.

Avatar Critique

Watching this extraordinary film Avatar I enter a separate and whole new world accompanied by an experience that I don’t get from most movies.  Clear cut James Cameron knows how to use $300 Million dollars well, and it is his skill with large amounts of money that makes him such a successful and widely known producer. Avatar is not just a good movie, it has a purpose and message that it wants to send to people and that is an anti-war, save the environment, kind of message which perfect for Avatar, no movie to date could make a more profound case to this argument and plead. This film displays war and the environment in the most vivid and decorated way possible which is the catalyst to its point. This movie, on a technical standpoint, made a breakthrough on the limitations of what computers can do and how well you can change the character that, in this case, James Cameron was trying to make
Set in the year 2154, the story takes off with a shuttle of men sent by the U.S. Military to this new world called pandora, which is rich in resources very valuable back at earth.  The display of the world as you press into the movie is one of the more creative things I have seen in film, in my opinion.  It displays the plants and animals in a very prismatic and Devine sense which helps tie in the way it is all connected as you find out early in the movie and when it is explained later on.  While watching this film it profoundly reminded me of Dances with Wolves, Indians having what the white supremacist wanted and one supremacist getting to know the Indians and the ultimate attempt to defend them. Avatar was a perfect example of the perfect movie including suspense, sadness, depression, happiness, and ultimate inspiration.
Apollo 13 is about an adventure to space!  And it's based off a true event!  Apollo 13 is red hot with suspense, a lunar module experiences an explosion in the midst of a mission, blowing out fuel and oxygen, and three astronauts must surrender control to gravity to take them back home.  A theme of this film is human worth, and it's inspirational that the whole world concerns themselves with the survival of just three men.
The cast is superb (how can you go wrong with Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon?),  which really pulls the movie together and are very believable.  The lighting and special effects are also very good, which is important for a space. Good movie 7/10
I think it was a very exciting movie, talk about the Apollo 13 ready go to the moon but there are some problem about the Lunar module oil leak, that was very dangerous about that. They didn't have enough power to go home. they turn off all about the stuff, there be cold and dark. They need fix the carbon dioxide to keep alive. they had a hard time in space. But they did it. although they didn't go to the moon  , I think they are American hero, they came back.

Apollo 13 Film Critique

The film Apollo 13 is not only a fantastic movie, but channels the human spirit for exploring the great beyond and the unknown. It seems to be a natural human instinct to discover the "great unknown". Some do it for recognition, some do it for the sake of new discoveries, and maybe some do it for a purpose. Whatever the reason may be, it's undeniable that exploring and new discoveries is an obsession of sorts with humans. Apollo 13 perfectly presents this undying yearn for discovery and what  the consequences can be if mistakes are made. The fact that the movie is based on true events adds just that much more of a sense of adventure to the film.

Almost to the moon

In this movie 3 men are on a mission to go to the moon. This is the life long dream for many of the men. The three men going into space train rigorously to get prepared for the epic journey ahead of them. Many things will go wrong for them on this flight and they have to abort landing on the moon to save their lives. The first thing that goes bad is that their pilot supposedly is going to get the measles but he never does. The Second is that while Jack mixes the oxygen tanks coil goes a wall and it destroys part of the ship. Now that the ship is destroyed with limited option the control room and the 3 space men have to get back to earth on limited resources and capabilities  The 3 men get back home safely with the help of control and the other astronaut figuring out how to turn their power back on with limited sources. This Movie was very well thought out and the acting was very well played. I would give this movie a high ranking because of the performance and all the technical work that had to be in play during this movie.

Apollo 13

I thought apollo 13 was a pretty good movie it kept me the edge of my seat when they were in space and Tom Hanks is a great actor in the movie any movie he is in he is great. It was the first time I say the movie and before I herd that apollo 13 was a good movie from other people and they were right.

Apollo 13

Apollo 13 was a great movie, i love tom hanks and i thought he was perfect actor to play jim hubble. This movie gave you about as good of a perspective as we could get to what it was like to be in the aquarius during this terrifying mission to the moon. The movie had the perfect amount of humor in it to compliment the seriousness of the situation the astronauts are in.
The movie was filmed really well, every angle added to the intensity of each scene. The movie would not have been the same without the amazing filming, it almost made you feel like you were in the aquarius with the astronauts.

Apollo 13

Apollo 13 was a much more intense adventure film than some of the others that we have watched.  From beginning to end, there were many interesting twists that led to the climax of the movie.  In the beginning, the main character, Tom Hanks, was selected with two of his peers to make another trip to the moon.  When they were slightly through their training, one of them couldn't go because a blood test showed a possibility of him getting the measles during the trip.  He was replaced with a younger, less experienced pilot.  This was the first major twist where viewer predictions would fly.  They finally got to the point where they felt like they could trust each other more, and went into space.  This is when the oxygen tanks exploded on the ship which made them unable to land on the moon.  Houston had the challenge of getting them back safe dropped onto them.  They were just barely able to do it, which kept the viewers on the edge of their seat all the way to the end.  Overall, this was a great movie.

Apollo 13 Critique

Apollo 13 was a very interesting movie, but it was also awesome. I was expecting to see Apollo 13 land on the moon but that didn't happen. Three astronauts went up into space and they were supposed to travel to the moon, but there was a lot of malfunctions with the ship so they never ended up going to the moon. The ship din't have enough energy to make a land on the moon, but luckily, all three astronauts landed safe on Earth. The oxygen tanks exploded on their way to the moon and that made everything a disaster. The people down at Nasa were very on top of things and they knew just how to save energy and get everything under control in the ship. All of the characters did great at acting their parts, and the scenes from space were all very realistic in my opinion. It was very well thought out and planned. I would recommend this movie to all of my friends. 9 out of 10.

Apollo 13

Im not really sure i liked apollo 13, the movie had interesting concept but was i just found it boring in parts of the movie and i didn't really think the movie had a lot of diverse shots, i know the whole movie is based inside of the ship but thats what made it hard for me to watch. But other than that i though the actors in the movie did a great job especially Tom Hanks.

Apollo 13 Critique

Apollo 13 is a true story about 3 astronauts sent to land on the moon and return home.  The problem begins when an explosion destroys a key component of the space craft.  The crew begins to run out of oxygen and power and are forced to abandon their goal of landing on the moon.  They have to focus on simply getting back home alive using limited resources.  One of the themes this movie explores is humanities desire to explore the unknown.  We have a need to know what is beyond us and what lies out of our reach.  This is what has moved humans across the world and led civilizations to interact with each other.  We have continued to explore space through the use of telescopes and space craft.  We will always continue to explore the unknown and will want to better understand the world we live in.  It is interesting to see how the 3 men are devastated not only that they may not survive their journey, but that they will never get to land on the moon and meet their goals of exploring and discovering.  I would recommend Apollo 13 to many people because it is a true, interesting story about survival, exploration, and working together to accomplish impossible things.

APOLLO 13

Apollo 13 is a great example of an adventure movie!  Tom Hanks playing a lead role was riveting.  It is everyones dream at some point in their life (whether they admit it or not) to go into space.  It is also a big fear of many to get lost in space floating forever, or to just die in space in general.  This film does a great job of blending the two together.  This fact along with the amazing acting done in this movie makes this film one to see for many generations to come.  This film is very emotional, a real hop on the feels bus.  The emotions along with the amazing acting in this movie makes me give it nine sketchy landings out of ten!

Apollo 13 is a historical drama that pulls faith, doubt, intelligence, and Devine intuition in wonderful masterpiece of suspense and just an absolute fantastic movie. Ron Howard, the director, uses the unbelievable story such as this one and runs with it creating every scene perfectly aligned with tension, anger, and faith, which in my opinion is the only way to make a movie about something so spectacular as this story. The use of these actors such as Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Ed Harris, and Gary Sinise is brilliant in itself, they add the perfect feel to every character and to the actor's credit, executed the roles perfectly by forming a deep sense of that character right from the start. There is no question the credibility of whether this is an adventure film or not, I mean they are in space!  The mans desire to explore the unknown and the quick change of events which leads into Mankind's ingenuity and clever/quick thinking. My favorite part of the movie when control is talking about this being a disaster and flight goes ahead and states that this will be one of NASA's finest hour, which it later proved to be exactly. This film was great, taking an unbelievable story and making an unbelievable movie out of it.
Smoke Signals is a wonderful movie the pulls together the good times, bad times, heart breaks, love, and unpleasant features in a masterpiece that leads into an adventure.  It begs the question on our understanding of what an Indian is and with the movies creator being an indian I think we get a deep look into what we perceive indians as, what indians perceive themselves as, and what Indians think we perceive them as which proves to quite accurateVictor is a distraught little boy at first whom always tries to look at the bad people, but understandably so. His father left when he was 12 and ever since he heard about what his father, Arnold, did to Thomas in the fire he has been in a tireless search to find the love in Arnold that Victor does not believe in. He ultimately pulls together his father piece by piece and eventually comes to terms with him and forgives him.  Forgiveness was a huge theme in this movie and becomes apparent in the end when Victor relieves the ashes of his father and lets go everything that Arnold did to Victor that he did not find pleasing, he apologizes as well. We are only on this earth for a short time so don't hate, be kind and forgive and that will never lead you astray.

Apollo 13: "Houston, We Have a Problem."

Apollo 13 is one of those films that makes it hard to look away from the screen, being based off true events it really draws you in and captivates you. This film is action packed and each moment the crew of Apollo 13 faces danger you feel yourself becoming even more engaged than before, due to the fact that the actors picked for this film knew exactly how to portray their roll. As each of the many problems occur you can’t help but think that they aren’t going to make it home but to your surprise this film actually has a very good and happy ending. Apollo 13 is an amazing film, with intense moments throughout that never allow a single moment of boredom. I for one really enjoy this movie and believe it to be one of the best motion picture I have even seen.
